Subtitling is a complex task. There is simply no space on the screen for elaboration. Therefore, the basic meaning needs to be immediately apparent. Subtitling is a profession in its own right: it is an extremely challenging discipline that combines the written and spoken language. A subtitler is also limited in time (reading speed) and space (the screen). For this reason, subtitling requires an abundance of talent and experience.
